Tempeh & Black Bean BBQ Burgers

With all this amazing hot weather we’ve been enjoying recently, it’s safe to say that bbqs have become the norm in our house but that also means lots of different dishes each day and of course one of those has to be a burger and these delicious vegan tempeh and black bean bbq burgers really hit the spot.

Packed with protein and simple to make, even the meat eaters will enjoy these.

Ingredients

1 pack of BBQ Plant Power Tempeh or 1 block of original flavour tempeh 

1 tin black beans

1 small onion

1 garlic clove

2 tsp cumin 

1 tsp paprika

In a food processor add the bbq tempeh, black beans, small chopped onion, garlic clove, cumin and paprika and whizz up until it comes together.

If you don’t have bbq tempeh, simple add in 2 tbsp bbq sauce of your choice. 

If the mixture appears to soft, then add in couple of tablespoons of flour to help dry and bind.

Shape the mixture into burgers (this should make 4 large burgers or 8 mini sliders) 

You can either pop them onto a baking tray and cook them in the oven or simply pan fry them with a little oil (I find that it works nicely by pan frying and then finish off in the oven)

Once cooked through, add some vegan mayo, spinach, tomato, smashed avocado and the tempeh and black bean burger to a seeded wholegrain roll and enjoy
