Skin Healthy Banana Bread

Nutrition and lifestyle plays a major factor in our skin health, so what we eat, drink and how we live our lives can actually support the health of our skin. what we eat can impact our skin, hormones, gut health, muscle tone etc which are all components of skin health.

Did you know that Nuts are a great source of Vitamin E which can help repair skin tissue, retain skin moisture, and protect skin from damaging UV rays.

Nuts such as walnuts contain omega 3 fats that have anti-inflammatory properties.

Pumpkin seeds are rich in vitamin E, zinc, omega 3- and 6- fatty acids as well as antioxidants, which makes them great for the skin in terms of retaining moisture, fighting free radicals and and helping to balance out hormone levels.

Chia seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acid ALA and omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid. These healthy fats have been shown to help restore the skin’s moisture barrier, especially conditions, such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.

Bananas are rich in vitamin A which has been shown to restore the moisture in skin and repairs dry skin.

Oats contain wonderful antioxidants and beneficial polyphenols. Avenanthramides , an antioxidant, also has anti-inflammatory and anti-itching properties which can help soothe it by skin conditions.

This banana bread combines wonderful wholegrain oat flour, vitamin A and antioxidant rich bananas, omega 3 rich walnuts and chia seeds and vitamin E rich pumpkin seeds to make a skin nourishing and delicious snack!

I don’t know about you but I’m still not board of banana bread especially with these delicious added nourishing extras!!


Ingredients

1 1/2 cups @bobsredmill oat flour
1 tbsp corn flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup @vitacocoeu coconut oil melted
3 mashed bananas
4 tbsp coconut sugar
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp @goodbetterbruce Oat Milk
1/3 cup @walnuts_uk walnuts chopped
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
2 tbsp @linwoodshealthfoods milled chia seeds


In a bowl add all the dry ingredients including the nuts and seeds and mix well together 

Add the melted coconut oil, mashed bananas, milk and apple cider vinegar and mix until it’s all incorporated

Pour the mixture into a lined loaf tin

Pop into the oven at 160c for approx 50 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean

Remove from the oven and allow to cool before tucking in.
