Breakfast literally means Breaking the fast….. As most of us won't have eaten since the evening before, then this meal is breaking that gap and fueling our bodies for the day.

Breakfast can help to support our energy levels throughout the morning so we don't feel fatigued before we even get to lunch and end up eating anything and everything.

It is important that we eat foods that can help to support our blood sugar levels and include nutrient dense foods.

Cereals as an example of a breakfast that will cause blood sugar spikes. As we know these are convenient and easy to eat but look at the sugar content on the ingredients section or the additional ingredients.

This simple to make recipe is loaded with protein, healthy fats, fibre and colour to help support blood sugar levels and energy levels throughout the morning and can be made in advance for those busy mornings!


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oats

  • 1/2 courgette

  • 2 tbsp cacao

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1 tsp beet powder

  • optional 1/4 pear

  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds

  • handful of cherries

  • 1/3 cup almond milk


In a blender add thr courgette, cacao, avocado, beet powder, pear and almond milk and whizz until smooth

Add to a pan and gently heat, then add the oats and hemp seeds and simmer until the oats are nicely softened

top with the cherries and a little melted dark chocolate
